Where is abs module located
Image Click to enlarge. I am really disappointed in repair manuals lack of information. It looks like you have found the information. I could not. This makes a diagnosis of "Control Module Fault" a little more difficult.
I know you said you had a lot of codes. What were they? Let me know the codes and we can go from there. First, I did not compare the codes in the Chilton"s against the codes in the code reader book. I know better! It has been a while since I pulled the codes and there were 14 codes.
Before I list them let me get current codes because I cleaned the connection after reading code last time some may not show up again! Good idea. On modern vehicles we want more codes but these older ones can set erroneous DTCs.
Let me know what you find and we can go from there. Here is a list of current codes. To erase codes but they did not erase and still no Last time I pulled codes I did get a 12 code and the codes did clear. Sorry for the delay. I haven't had enough time to go through all these. I am working on it tonight and will get back with you tomorrow.
I'm in no hurry. I cleared the codes key on light on for about 2 seconds then light goes out. Light came back on after driving about 50 ft. I cleared codes again and left the truck for a couple hours. When I came back I plugged the reader in to see if it flashed 12 or 14 system normal. It flashed the codes I thought were erased. I did not sit through the whole list at this point it was better for me to just walk away!
I do have a good spare PCM. I installed it and drove the truck for a week with no problems but I wasn't working on the brakes then. I put the original back in. Do you think it would benefit me to swap them out and read codes again? Let's run through the flow chart for code 67 first then Certified Automotive Diagnostic Technician. Thanks Douglas. Hello, I'm sam. Just bought a used Nissan Altima hybrid.
When driving it homeb brake lights came on. I thought maybe this was a wheel sensor issue in the hub assembly. I took it to auto zone to get scanned. Things got weird. Then for some reason more lights came on. Including the coolant light and the check engine light.
However both of these lights went back off once the scanner was removed from my car. I'm now being told to come back at 8 a. My car is a Ford Edge. Lately I have to push a bit more on the brakes, and then the next time it works Just fine. Can you give me some idea how much it would cost to repair it? I have a chevy s10 4. Mines appear to be one unit with the pump on top, all vedio show other type with pump on the bottom. I dont want to repair it, just replace it.
Please help help me located it thanks. These are not all the signs, so here is a more detailed list of the most common symptoms of a bad ABS control module: Contents show. Locking Wheels. ABS Warning Light. Increased Braking Effort. Unresponsive Brake Pedal. The ABS system is specifically designed to prevent any wheel from locking up during heavy braking. A bad ABS module can behave erratically, making your brakes lock up even under normal braking. You might even notice unusual behavior from the brakes, like random clicking noises.
These can also indicate ABS module failure. However, an unresponsive brake pedal can mean many other things. With a fully functional braking system, the brake pedal needs minimal effort to slow the vehicle. If you notice you need more pedal effort required to generate the same amount of braking force, there could be a problem with the ABS control module.
Again, brake pedal issues like increased foot effort can mean other things, like worn brake pads or a failing brake booster, so be sure to have your mechanic check everything. Essentially, if you have an inkling that your ABS control module may be going haywire, get to a mechanic quickly.
For an accurate estimate of repair costs, all you need to do is fill this online form. So keeping it fully functional is a no-brainer. But what is an ABS in the first place? So, what makes up an anti-lock brake system? The most common configuration consists of these components: 1.
